Job Overview
We're looking for passionate, knowledgeable tour guides to lead our 1-hour and 2-hour Wild West Walking Tours. There's potential for advancement to more complex tours, such as the Wild West Pub Crawl and Golden Ghosts and Spirits tours. This role suits individuals with a flair for storytelling, an interest in history, and the skills to manage diverse groups.
Responsibilities
Conduct historical walking tours, making history engaging and accessible to all guests.
Prepare for tours by arriving at least 10 minutes beforehand for setup.
Deliver exceptional customer service, adapting to diverse audience needs and managing group dynamics effectively, especially during drinking tours.
Qualifications
Strong storytelling and public speaking skills; ability to entertain and educate simultaneously.
Interest or background in Colorado, Golden, and Denver history, particularly the Gold Rush era.
Proficiency in group management; experience with alcohol-related tours is a plus but not required.
Flexibility and quick thinking to adapt to changing situations on the spot.
Access to email and text message communication.
Compensation
$20/hour or 30% of ticket revenue, whichever is higher.
100% of any gratuity, which is common.
Schedule
Guides choose their schedule from available time slots and are responsible for fulfilling or covering the time slots they’re assigned to.
Guides can pick up as many or few time slots as they want.
Most tours book within a week, so regular schedules and “on-call” availability is helpful.
