June 13 Tours Cancelled

I started Golden History Tours last August to take advantage of the slower winter months in Golden in order to establish myself and be able to head into the busy spring and summer seasons guns-a-blazin’, so to speak. Unfortunately the Coronavirus had other plans and now we’re all adapting, day-to-day. While I officially opened tours again in June, it didn’t take a week before I had to change course again.

I’m the sole tour guide for the company right now. It’s a passion project of mine. My goal is to be able to hire people to tell Golden’s stories in the future and share in the excitement of the Wild West, but until I can get established, the tours live and die with me. So when I became ill earlier this week, I knew I might have to start cancelling tours just a week after reopening, and we’ve come to that point. As of now I’m cancelling this week’s tours.

On Wednesday I had a COVID-19 test administered and I’m still awaiting the results. Regardless, I can’t safely take the streets until whatever I have has cleared up and I’m sure I’m not contagious. Should the test come back positive, there will be more closures in the coming weeks with updates to follow.

Regarding my pledge to donate $5 of every full-price registration to BGoldN, I will continue to do that through June for any tours that I can safely run, and will extend through July as well if I am able.

I want to be able to share the fun and incredible stories of Golden’s past with everyone who wants to hear about them. These tours bring me a great deal of joy, and helping the community in the process is the proverbial icing on the cake. Thanks to everyone who has supported me so far and who continue to be sources of knowledge and wisdom for the community. As soon as I can do it safely, I’ll see you back out on the streets.
